Problem property in Guisborough ordered to close

A problem property in Guisborough has been ordered to close following an application made by Cleveland Police with the assistance of Redcar and Cleveland Borough Council.

The flat at Helmsley House in Guisborough was ordered to close for three months by magistrates on Thursday 22^nd February following reports of residents being plagued by anti-social behaviour.

Officers from Redcar and Cleveland’s Neighbourhood Policing Team (NPT) worked closely with council officers on the application following intelligence from the community.

The order means the tenant must not enter the property and it will be inaccessible to anyone for three months.

NPT Inspector Neil Deluce said: “Actions speak louder than words and that is why my officers and I are out in Guisborough every day working with key partners to close problem properties.

“I’d like to thank Redcar and Cleveland Borough Council and Beyond Housing for their assistance in this closure order. We will continue to work together to improve the lives of residents across the borough.
