A woman and a man are due to appear at court later this month after being arrested in Middlesbrough by Proactive Team and neighbourhood officers on Friday afternoon.
Police had received a report of a car being broken into on Garnet Street.
It was alleged that a small amount of change had been stolen from the vehicle.
Officers in the area liaised with Council CCTV operators, locating and arresting the 29-year-old woman and 44-year-old man nearby.
They were both later charged with theft from motor vehicle.
We would remind motorists to always lock their vehicles and remove any valuables when leaving cars and vans unattended.
