Officers in Hartlepool are appealing for the public’s help as they continue to investigate a report of a robbery.
It happened around 7am on New Years Day, Monday 1st January, as a lone woman in her 40s was at the junction of Raby Road and York Road, near the Old Cinema.
She was pushed to the ground and had her handbag stolen; it contained bank cards, a key and personal items. Thankfully the woman was not seriously injured however she was left extremely shaken.
A man stopped to help her up but then left the scene and we’d appeal for him to come forward as he may have vital information to help ongoing enquiries.
Unfortunately we don’t currently have a description of the male suspect, however police believe there were other people and vehicles in the area at the time and would appeal for any witnesses as well as anyone with doorbell, dashcam or CCTV footage to come forward if they can help.
Please contact Cleveland Police on the 101 number quoting ref 000216.
If you don’t want to speak to police, you can pass information anonymously to independent charity Crimestoppers online at www.crimestoppers-uk.org or by phoning them on 0800 555 111.
