A man has been arrested in connection with alleged drugs offences after Proactive Team officers spotted suspected drug dealing in the Newport area of Middlesbrough.
On Wednesday 10th January, officers from the Proactive Team attended Stowe Street where they arrested a 34-year-old man in an alley way, on suspicion of possession with intent to supply class A drugs.
Suspected class A drugs, a large amount of cash and three mobile phones were recovered.
A subsequent address search with the assistance of police dog Harper, also discovered a suspected taser and drugs paraphernalia.
The man was further arrested on suspicion of possession of a firearm and possession of criminal property.
Proactive officers are working with neighbourhood policing teams and will continue their partnership work alongside landlords, the local authority and members of the public to address any ongoing issues in the area.
The man was bailed whilst enquiries continue, with conditions not to enter the Newport area.
Anyone with information regarding drugs activity in their local community, is asked to contact Cleveland Police on 101, or contact Crimestoppers anonymously online at www.crimestoppers-uk.org or by calling 0800 555 111.
