A man has been charged after a moped was reportedly ridden at a police officer in Middlesbrough.
The incident happened as officers had been on patrol in the Longlands area around 3:30pm on Sunday 21st January.
Following a report of a moped being driven erratically, officers attended the scene and attempted to detain a male who allegedly rode the moped at the officer. The officer was unharmed and the man was detained. Upon searching the man two knives were also recovered.
A 34-year-old man has since been charged with assaulting an emergency worker, dangerous driving, possession of an offensive weapon, driving otherwise than in accordance with a licence and no insurance. He is due to appear at Teesside Magistrates Court on 6th February.
A moped was also seized.
