An operation to tackle vehicle crime in Stockton launches this week to deter criminals and reassure the community.
Operation Acacia will see officers from the Proactive Team carry out extra patrols around Stockton during the evenings and act on suspicious activity.
Officers will carry out regular stop searches and will arrest and seek out prosecutions where appropriate.
Chief Inspector Dan Heron of Stockton NPT said: “My team will operate in the hours of darkness actively seeking out suspicious or criminal activity. These extra patrols are in addition to the patrols we do as daily business.
“With our colleagues from CID, we are united in our objectives to arrest offenders and seek out prosecutions.
“We do need your help to make it as difficult as possible for criminals to operate. By locking cars and ensuring valuables are not on view, that will be an immediate obstacle to crime.
“Please report any suspicious activity to us on 101. Every single report that is made to police is reviewed but if we don’t get reports, we don’t know it has happened.”
