A 17-year-old boy is being questioned following two alleged incidents in Middlesbrough last night, which police are currently treating as linked.
Officers attended an address on Brereton Road shortly after 8.35pm after receiving a report that an accelerant had been thrown at the property and a firearm had been discharged towards the address. There were no reports of anyone being injured.
A few moments later police received a report of criminal damage at an address in Westminster Road where a window had been smashed.
Officers at the scene of the second alleged incident arrested the teenager and he will be questioned about both.
Whilst we do not believe there is any current risk to the wider public, police remain in both areas providing a reassuring presence and conducting further enquiries.
We would appeal for anyone with information, doorbell/dashcam or CCTV footage which could assist to contact Cleveland Police on the 101 number quoting ref 017217.
