Following a multi-agency day of enforcement in the Newport area of Middlesbrough, a number of untaxed and uninsured vehicles were seized and two people summonsed to court.
Middlesbrough Neighbourhood Policing Team along with Matrix Team officers and Middlesbrough Council colleagues carried out the operation on Tuesday 23rd January, targeting uninsured and untaxed vehicles and unlicensed drivers.
Nine vehicles were seized at the roadside which did not have valid tax, one was seized for having no insurance and the 28-year-old female driver was summonsed to court for driving without insurance.
Another vehicle was seized and an 18-year-old male summonsed to court for driving not in accordance with a licence.
Neighbourhood officer, PC Jamal Khan said: “Neighbourhood officers will continue to work with partner agencies to improve road safety, target dangerous vehicles and those who do not abide by the law.
“Yesterday’s operation saw success with untaxed and uninsured vehicles seized and two people summonsed in connection with alleged driving offences.”
Councillor Janet Thompson, Middlesbrough Council’s Executive member for Community Safety, said: “It’s great to see our officers once again using their legal powers alongside Cleveland Police to tackle this issue.
“We will always be on the side of law-abiding people and will work with our partners to clamp down on vehicles that can cause a nuisance.”
Throughout Neighbourhood Policing Week of Action, officers across the Force area will continue to be out proactively targeting those issues which impact our local communities.
