An 11-year-old pedestrian was crossing Cawood Drive, close to the junction of Glendale Road, in Acklam at around 8.40am on Tuesday 2 July.
A silver Vauxhall Insignia drove around the corner from Glendale Road onto Cawood Drive and collided with her.
The girl was struck to the left side causing her to fall on to the bonnet and then to the ground.
While the driver of the vehicle spoke to the girl to ask if she was okay, he failed to remain at the scene to provide details and instead drove away.
PC Richard Davidson said: “We have been conducting numerous enquiries since the collision occurred to identify the driver of the vehicle and are appealing for him, or anyone who may know who he is, to come forward.
“We are also asking for anyone with information, CCTV or dash cam footage of the collision to please get in touch.”
If you can help the officer’s investigation, please contact Cleveland Police on 101 quoting 124660.
