Neighbourhood Officers in Redcar have issued two section 59 notices for antisocial driving in Majuba car park in June. The drivers of these vehicles were 17 and 18 years old.
A section 59 notice can be issued to anyone driving in a manner which is or has been causing, or is likely to cause alarm, distress or annoyance to members of the public. The warning is placed against both the driver and the vehicle and lasts 12 months.
Should the recipient of the notice fail to heed the warning during this time, officers can seize the vehicle.
Redcar Neighbourhood Officers will continue to patrol this area and will issue further section 59 notices where appropriate.
