Residents in Stockton are being reminded to keep their homes and vehicles secure during the warmer weather.
Officers are issuing the reminder while providing some simple security tips that could assist in protecting people’s property to ensure they do not become a target for criminals.
Inspector Jon Willoughby, from Stockton’s neighbourhood policing team, said: “As the area warms up in the sunshine, we know people will be spending more time outdoors while also trying to keep their homes and cars cool.
“This can involve home, and car windows being left open and unfortunately provides an opportunity for criminals to strike.
“I therefore want to take the time to encourage you to close your windows and lock doors when you are either finished outside, before going out or when heading to bed. This also applies to your vehicles as well.”
