Officers were called to reports of an altercation on Dovecot Street, Stockton, at around 7.10pm on Monday (1st July).
A man suffered arm and head injuries and was taken to hospital.
A 40-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of affray and causing grievous bodily harm with intent. He remains in police custody.
