Today, Wednesday 17th July, 29-year-old Kurtis George Randall, from Middlesbrough, was sentenced to ten years in prison after pleading guilty to a number of sexual offences at Teesside Crown Court.
Randall received 4.5 years custodial and 5.5 years on extended licence.
Officers found evidence of offences on Randall’s phone during a routine visit to him, as part of their robust monitoring of Registered Sex Offenders in the community.
Detective Inspector Richard Hodgkinson from Cleveland Police’s Management of Sexual and Violent Offender department said: “Our department will continue a robust approach in monitoring registered sex offenders in the community by carrying out unannounced visits at their home addresses to ensure they are adhering to their sex offender notification requirements and any orders that have been imposed on them, in order to safeguard our communities.
“This case was an excellent example of further offending being uncovered during one of these routine visits, linking Randall to a number of serious sexual offences. Officers’ intervention prevented further offending, led to his arrest and subsequent conviction.
“After a thorough investigation, Randall entered a guilty plea and has today been sentenced to ten years in prison.
“I would like to thank those victims and witnesses involved in this case for their bravery, the investigating officers and the Crown Prosecution Service for their support throughout.
“Anyone who has been a victim of a sexual offence is urged to report this to police, by calling 101. All offences will be taken seriously and investigated thoroughly.”
