Officers were called to a report of a disturbance in the street in Oxford Road, Thornaby at around 6.15 pm yesterday.
There were no reports of anyone having been seriously injured and four men (17, 25, 32 and 47) and a woman, 32, were arrested on suspicion of violence against the person and they remain in custody being questioned.
Enquiries into the report are ongoing and we would appeal for anyone with information, doorbell/dashcam or cctv footage to contact Cleveland Police on the 101 number quoting ref 121234.
