Local neighbourhood policing officers visited the town centre and a supermarket to roll out the equipment and provide advice to members of the public.
This included pens, purse bells, credit card protectors along with window and personal alarms.

The equipment is the first in a series of crime prevention days Police Community Support Officers (PCSO) are providing to the community across various areas of Stockton.
Part of the advice provided to residents related to a recent increase in thefts from motor vehicles.

Members of the public were advised to ensure their vehicles are locked and parked securely where possible such as near streetlamps or on a driveway, and all valuables inside the car either safely stored out of sight or removed.
Chief Inspector Dan Heron, from Stockton’s Neighbourhood Policing Team, said: “Over the next few months officers will be stationed around Stockton to talk about how to keep your possessions safe and secure.
“It is a great opportunity to take up some of the free equipment which we hope will also drive down crime in the area by acting as a deterrent to thieves.
“While the equipment is helpful however, the most important action to take is for residents to ensure vehicles are locked.
“Many criminals are opportunistic and simply try every door handle until an open one is found.
“Working with our detectives in CID we have already made arrests and there will be more to come.”
