A joint operation has taken place checking commercial vehicles and dangerous goods on the A19 in Ingleby Arncliffe.
The operation involved the Matrix Roads Policing Team from Cleveland Police, North Yorkshire Police, and the DVSA.
A total of 25 commercial vehicles and two cars were stopped and subject to a full inspection.
Of these vehicles, 20 were carrying dangerous goods and six were found with issues including incorrect vehicle markings, unclear documentation, insufficient fire extinguishers and missing PPE.
Seven non-dangerous goods vehicles were inspected and two people were found to be driving with no licence. Two mobile phone offences were also identified and the drivers were dealt with.
One large goods vehicle had more than 18 defects including no number plate and no seatbelt and the vehicle was recovered.
A car was also seized for having defective brakes and a twisted chassis and the driver was dealt with for driving with no licence.
Advice was also given to drivers around working hours.
Matrix Sergeant Mark Kewley said: “These operations are crucial to ensure that vehicles are safe to be using our roads and that people are abiding by the laws put in place for everyone’s safety. We will continue to do all we can to protect the public and make our roads safer.”
