A dedicated Special Constable has been recognised for her outstanding contributions to the local community with a special award.
Megan Betts was nominated at Teesside University’s ‘Volun-Cheers’ Awards 2024, which celebrates individuals and groups that take part in the university’s volunteer scheme.
During the awards ceremony, held earlier this month, Megan was given the Outstanding Contribution Award for her tireless work.
Megan joined Cleveland Police in October 2022 and has been a student throughout her time with the force.
She has volunteered an impressive 1,304 hours during this time, including completing an initial six-month training course to be a Special Constable.
Megan has continued her commitment to the role by qualifying for independent patrol status and she now regularly works with Stockton’s Response team.
Special Constabulary Chief Inspector James Ruddock said: “It was a great evening to celebrate all of the amazing volunteers that Teesside University supports and encourages. We are delighted to offer volunteer experience for university students and we hope this relationship continues.
“For Megan to win this brilliant award was a fabulous result and it just goes to show the amazing contribution Special Constables make to the community of Cleveland. Megan is a credit to herself and the force.”
