Officers were called to a report of an ongoing burglary at Ormesby Club on Ormesby High Street around 3:20am this morning, Friday 22nd March.
When officers attended the scene, a man was seen jumping a fence and made off from officers on foot.
A short time later, a police dog was deployed and a man was detained by the dog.
A 37-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of burglary and was taken to James Cook University Hospital with a bite wound to his lower leg. The man remains in hospital at this time, whilst receiving treatment.
A mandatory referral has been made to the Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC) due to the injury to the man.
