The 17-year-old boy, from Middlesbrough, was detained by police on Friday 1 March in connection with reports of a shooting at around 10pm on Eversham Road in Grangetown.
He was arrested on suspicion of possession of a class A and class C drug, possession of a knife, disqualified driving and driving with no insurance.
Following questioning in police custody he was subsequently charged with the offences and appeared at Teesside Magistrates Court on Monday 4 March.
The teenager was also arrested on suspicion of possession of a firearm with intent to endanger life and has been released on conditional bail.
Another 16-year-old boy was arrested on suspicion of possession of a firearm and has been released on conditional bail.
