Three people were arrested and a number of vehicles were seized during a two-day operation to tackle crime on the roads in South Bank.
Officers from Greater Eston’s Neighbourhood Policing Team (NPT) and the Matrix Team carried out Operation Accrington on Wednesday 6th March and Thursday 7th March.
Utilising intelligence and a wide range of resources, officers targeted vehicles and suspects most likely to bring harm to the community.
During the first day of the operation, a 36-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of drug driving and he was bailed pending further enquiries.
He was also reported to court for driving otherwise than in accordance with a licence and driving without insurance and the vehicle was seized.
A 32-year-old man was reported to court for disqualified driving and possession of a Class C drug after officers stopped a vehicle on Normanby Road. The vehicle was also seized.
After stopping a vehicle, officers arrested a 22-year-old woman on suspicion of drug driving and she was bailed pending further enquiries.On the second day of the operation, an electric motorbike was sighted on Strauss Road and tracked to an address.
When officers went to seize the vehicle, a man allegedly became aggressive towards officers and was subsequently arrested.
The 37-year-old male arrested on suspicion of affray and obstructing a police officer in execution of duty. He was bailed pending further enquiries and the motorbike was also seized by officers.
One driver was also given a Traffic Offence Report (TOR) and another vehicle was seized after it was found to not have been taxed.
Sergeant Rory Sadler said: “Based on intelligence from the community, we dedicated our resources to tackling road-based crime in the South Bank area.
“We proactively pursued those causing harm to our communities and, by doing so, reassured the community that we are listening to their concerns and we are taking action.
“Information from the public remains vital and it’s important that the community keep communicating with us. If any members of the public have any issues or concerns, I would encourage them to call 101.”
