Emergency services are currently at the scene of a fire in Thornaby.
The fire is believed to have started in a property in Langley Avenue shortly after 4am today (Monday 20 May 2024).
The residents from a number of houses in the street have been evacuated, a cordon is in place and Langley Avenue and Mansfield Avenue are closed at both ends.
At this time, it is not believed anyone is injured or trapped within any of the affected houses.
Members of the public are urged to avoid the area and nearby residents are asked to keep their windows closed to avoid smoke entering their homes.
We thank the public for their co-operation and patience while we deal with this incident.
