Police received reports of a number of incidents on the High Street within a short period of time including BetFred on 2nd January, and at a nearby a laundromat around two weeks later.
In both cases O’Brien demanded money from staff and made off from the scene.
Detectives from Stockton CID carried out numerous enquiries, identifying O’Brien who was subsequently arrested and questioned.
He was subsequently charged and remanded for two counts of robbery and later pleaded guilty at court.
O’Brien attended Teesside Crown Court onn Monday this week where he was sentenced to three years and four months.
Detective Constable James Limon said "These robberies happened in close proximity and in a short space of time which I know will have caused local premises owners and members of the public considerable concern.
“Thankfully, officers within Stockton CID were able to identify O'Brien through extensive CCTV enquiries.
“I welcome this week’s result and court and I’d like to thank the victims and witnesses and also the local people of Norton for their help and support."
