Police in the Acklam area of Middlesbrough are asking parents to know where their children are after recent reports of antisocial behaviour at Trimdon shops in Acklam.
The parade of shops on Trimdon Avenue has recently become a location where large groups of youths have been gathering, where it is reported that some people have found their presence intimidating and there have been incidents of antisocial behaviour.
Neighbourhood officers will be keeping a close eye on the area whilst on patrols, but would also like to politely remind parents to know where their children are, and what they are doing.
Middlesbrough Neighbourhood Policing Inspector Chris Hartshorne said: “Whilst we know that not all the children that congregate at Trimdon shops will be causing problems, there are a minority that are causing antisocial behaviour and large groups can be intimidating to the local people who attend the shops and those who work there.
“Whilst neighbourhood officers will be paying extra attention to this area on their patrols, we would also politely ask parents just to keep an eye on where their children are and what they are getting up to.”
Anyone experiencing antisocial behaviour is asked to contact Cleveland Police on 101, or contact Crimestoppers anonymously online at www.crimestoppers-uk.org or by calling 0800 555 111.
