This site is a beta, which means it's a work in progress and we'll be adding more to it over the next few weeks. Your feedback helps us make things better, so please let us know what you think.
Earlier this year we provided an update on the concerted efforts by police and our partners from the local authority enforcement team, ASB team and CCTV operators to tackle nuisance, antisocial or illegal driving in and around Redcar’s Majuba car park.
Nearby residents’ lives were blighted by drivers doing donuts and wheelspins, and racing noisily around the seafront facility.
The footage we shared at the time (below) was viewed and shared thousands of times and our work was even featured on national TV and radio!

There’s been a large reduction in complaints over the past five months, but we want to reassure residents that the town’s neighbourhood officers are still dealing with anyone found driving illegally or antisocially.
More Section 59 notices have been issued (the total now stands at 27) and 11 other drivers have now been dealt with for breach of the Public Space Protection Order, with others penalised for drink driving and for having vehicle defects.
Other penalties have included using restorative justice, a vehicle being seized, a fine being issued for carrying 5 people in a car intended for four and a referral to Trading Standards when illegal tobacco was seized from one vehicle!
And officers are still conducting highly visible reassurance patrols on a regular basis.
NPT Inspector Neil Deluce said: “I’d remind everyone that the Public Space Protection Order remains in place for the car park and indeed across the entire Redcar & Cleveland district.
“Anyone found breaching it will be dealt with, as will the small minority of inconsiderate drivers whose driving is found to be causing annoyance to nearby residents.
“Once again I want to reassure local people who are affected by this that we are still here for them; if they continue to report issues to police, we’ll do all we can to deal with them in a timely, proportionate and effective manner.”
You can report at any time via the Cleveland Police website or by using the 101 number (always use 999 in an emergency).
