Recently licensed police dog Raegar tracked two suspects following a reported assault this morning in Stockton, leading to two arrests.
Around 10:25am today, Friday 31st May, police received a call from CCTV colleagues to report that a man had been assaulted in Stockton town centre, close to Café Nero.
A man was reportedly punched and kicked several times and knocked to the floor.
Two suspects reportedly made off from the scene, towards Victoria Bridge.
PC India Landers and Raegar, who were newly licensed a week ago, responded to the call.
Two males were located hiding in a bush by PD Raegar, who tracked to an area at the Mandale triangle.
Two men aged 19 and 22 have been arrested on suspicion of affray and both remain in police custody at this time.
Officers are appealing to trace the victim of the reported assault, who left the scene prior to their arrival, and would ask them to make contact by calling Cleveland Police on 101, quoting reference number 101507.
Anyone with information can call 101 or contact Crimestoppers anonymously online at www.crimestoppers-uk.org or call 0800 555 111.
PD Raegar and PC Landers were welcomed into Cleveland Police’s Matrix Team when they were licensed along with two other dogs and handlers on Friday 24th May.
