Update following Grangetown disturbance

Superintendent Emily Harrison from Cleveland Police said: "Following disorder in the Birchington Avenue area of Grangetown yesterday evening (12 May 2024), there will be increased patrols by Cleveland Police neighbourhood officers, Matrix and proactive teams.  

"We are working hard with partner organisations to ensure there is no further disorder. One male is already in custody in relation to the offences and others are being sought.

"A dispersal order is in place for the area from 12noon on 13 May 2024 for 48 hours. 

"At this time we would like to reassure our communities and partners that this incident is being taken seriously and offenders will be brought to justice.  Our communities deserve to be able to enjoy peace and quiet in their homes and should not have to endure this unacceptable and criminal behaviour.
