A 25-year-old man has been arrested in connection with an incident at the Jack and Jill pub in Crossfell Road, Middlesbrough.
Officers were called to the scene shortly before 6pm on Saturday 11th May following reports of an assault.
The man remains in police custody at this time.
A man is in hospital in a critical condition.
Enquiries are continuing and officers would like to reassure the local community that there is not believed to be any risk to the wider public.
