Four police officers this week completed their Roads Policing Officers Course and joined Cleveland Police Matrix Team.
The course includes studying topics such as emergency traffic management in the event of serious collisions, and policies and procedures around roads policing matters.
The officers will now spend time with seasoned roads policing officers as they build up their experience and knowledge.
Roads policing officers roles include dealing with fatal and serious road traffic collisions, carrying out patrols in relation to the fatal four causes of serious and fatal collisions, educating and engaging with drivers, carrying out road safety checks on vehicles to ensure they are road worthy and casualty reduction inputs at local schools and colleges.
Sergeant Scott Pearson from Cleveland Police Matrix Team, said “I would like to congratulate the officers on the successful completion of their course, they have gone through a very rigorous recruitment process in order to join the Matrix Team and they are now ready to put their skills and knowledge into practice; helping to protect the communities of Cleveland.”
