On Saturday 23 November police received a report of items being set on fire from a child’s grave in the cemetery.
There has also been reports of items including Disney characters, wooden barrier and stones being stolen from another child’s grave.
Naturally this has caused great distress to the family involved and our thoughts are with them.
Officers have attended the cemetery and spoken with the family with enquiries now underway.
We would urge anyone with information or CCTV footage that shows the cemetery to get in touch either by contacting Cleveland Police on 101 or visiting our website and quoting reference number 223608.
Alternatively, information can be passed anonymously to Crimestoppers by calling 0800 555 111 or visiting their website.
