A senior detective has praised Redcar & Cleveland officers and force specialist colleagues as well as partner agencies and residents after a 29% reduction in house burglaries across the district in the last year.
There were 290 fewer offences than in the previous 12 months and Detective Chief Inspector Jon Hagen said this was largely down to police working with partners and residents to identify offenders, who were then apprehended by police and swiftly brought to justice.
Officers have also worked hard to identify emerging trends and then focus resources accordingly with dedicated patrols, intensive intelligence gathering and reviewing forensic strategies to achieve the best evidence possible to achieve convictions at court.
DCI Hagen said “Whilst these are impressive reductions, we’re not complacent as we know all too well the terrible impact a house burglary has on victims.
“We’ll continue to do all we can to reduce figures even further and we’ll constantly review the picture locally, so we can work effectively and deploy our officers to the areas where they’re needed most.”
