A 35-year-old man has been given a four-year football banning order after an incident at the Riverside stadium.
On Monday 22nd April, Jamie Dewing from Wharton Place in Boosbeck attended the Middlesbrough FC game against Leeds United, where he was involved in a violent incident whereby Dewing assaulted the man by punching him, leaving him with minor injuries.
Dewing was arrested at the scene by officers and later charged with a public order offence.
On Wednesday 27th November at Teesside Magistrates Court, Dewing was handed a four-year football banning order, a fine of £833, surcharge of £333 and costs of £85.
The banning order now means that Dewing cannot attend any football games in the United Kingdom for the next four years.
PC Chris Hilton, Cleveland Police Dedicated Football Officer, said: “Working closely with Middlesbrough Football Club, we will continue to try to keep people as safe as we can from violence and disorder of any kind at football matches.
“Wherever possible we will look to secure football banning orders and convictions for those who behave in this manner.”
