A man has been sentenced after being seen by officers to pick up a wooden plank and make his way towards others during violent disorder in Middlesbrough.
20-year-old Rosh Mahmood, from Victoria Road in Middlesbrough, was on the periphery of a large group during the disorder on Sunday 4th August when officers spotted him pick up the wood and they took swift action to detain him to prevent an opportunity for it to be used as a weapon.
Today (Tuesday 5th November) at Teesside Crown Court, Mahmood was sentenced to six months in prison for possession of an offensive weapon in a public place.
