The 20-year-old man, of Fernwood Avenue, was arrested on the morning of Wednesday 6 November and transported to custody.
Following questioning, he has since been charged with assault and possession of a knife.
He was remanded in custody and is due to appear at Teesside Magistrates Court on Thursday 7 November.
The charges relate to a man, aged 25, sustaining a stab wound on Kent Avenue in Hartlepool at 8.55am on Wednesday 6 November. He was taken to James Cook University Hospital by air ambulance with serious but not life-threatening injuries.
