A Stockton neighbourhood officer made three arrests within an hour yesterday while he was on foot patrols in the town.
PC Perry O’Kane responded to a report that a shoplifting offence was taking place in Heron Stores in Wellington Square, and he arrested a man on suspicion of theft.
While escorting the man to a nearby police van, the officer passed a woman being ejected from B&M after she’d allegedly taken goods from that shop. He arrested her on suspicion of theft.
And moments later on the High Street PC O’Kane spotted a man who he knew was wanted on warrant, so he arrested this man too.
One alleged shoplifter was bailed pending further enquiries, one was charged and the wanted man was sent straight to court to be dealt with there.
