Cleveland Police is proud to be supporting Dyslexia Awareness Week which aims to raise awareness of dyslexia and challenge common misconceptions.
The week runs from Monday 7th October to Sunday 13th October with a theme this year of “What’s Your Story?” to showcase the diversity of the dyslexic community.
Dyslexia is a specific learning difficulty which primarily affects reading and writing skills. However, it does not only affect these skills.
Ten percent of the population are believed to be dyslexic, but it is still often poorly understood.
Today we’re shining a light on PC Shaun Westmoreland who talks openly about how his dyslexia impacts on him and how he uses it to help him in his policing career.
You can watch his video here.
