Royal Air Force Air Cadets (RAFAC) from Middlesbrough were treated to a demonstration of the drone and police dogs and a talk about the specialist capabilities of the Matrix Team.
On Tuesday 8th October, Sergeants Andy Benson and Dave Ridgeway spoke to the Coulby Newham-based Cadets at length about the range of specialist units within the Matrix Team; including the Tactical Disruption Team (TDT), Dog Unit, Roads Policing Unit and Armed Response.
The youngsters were shown the vehicles and were then shown a demonstration of the drone in action, with an officer acting as a suspect and being tracked by the drone using thermal imaging and dog unit.
Sergeant Andy Benson, from the Matrix Team, said: “It’s great to be able to increase the knowledge and understanding of the specialist capabilities that the police have available to them, and engage with young people to encourage that positive relationship with the police.
“The Cadets seemed really interested in the talk we gave, and were particularly interested in the demonstration with the drone.”
