Shortly after midnight on Thursday 24 October police were called to Linthorpe Road in Middlesbrough.
It follows reports of a stabbing that is believed to have occurred at a cash machine at Tesco Express.
A 51-year-old man was located with injuries believed to have been made to his leg and lower back and required treatment from paramedics.
Enquiries are ongoing and anyone with information is asked to contact Cleveland Police on 101 quoting reference number 203643.
