At 12.15pm on Sunday 27 October police were called to West Row in Stockton following reports of a man putting a firearm into a vehicle.
Officers, including armed response, attended to the area and two men, aged 62 and 64, were detained.
They have both been arrested on suspicion of possession of a firearm and transported to police custody for questioning.
Following further enquiries, officers have arrested a third man. The 20-year-old is being questioned on suspicion of possession of a firearm.
