Two suspected shoplifters were detained by an off-duty officer who was out shopping on her day off in Next in Hartlepool.
On Monday 14th October, around 5:30pm, a man and woman were detained in the Anchor Retail Park store on suspicion of theft from a shop and were taken into police custody.
A 32-year-old woman was charged with two counts of theft from a shop and appeared in court on Tuesday 15th October.
A 62-year-old man was charged with theft from a shop and is due to appear at Teesside Magistrates Court on 8th November.
