A 39-year-old woman was punched in the face by a man on the high street near to the clock.
The assault took place between 12pm and 1pm on Saturday 7 September.
At the time a woman intervened to help the victim to her feet and ensure she was okay.
As part of officer’s enquiries, they are appealing for this woman to come forward.
PC Dylan Keane said: “I am really keen to speak to the woman who helped the victim as she could have information that could assist with the investigation.
“If this is you, or perhaps somebody knows who the woman might be, please make contact with police by contacting 101.
“I also want to take this opportunity to appeal to anyone who may have information or footage that may be useful to also come forward.”
