The 31-year-old was arrested on the afternoon of Tuesday 10 September at a property in Middlesbrough.
Following questioning by detectives from Cleveland Police's Homicide and Major Enquiry Team (HMET) the Crown Prosecution Service authorised he be charged with three counts of rape against two women. Two counts of rape relate to one of the women and one count relates to the other woman.
He has been remanded in custody to appear at Teesside Magistrates Court on Thursday 12 September.
The charges relate to two women reporting serious sexual assaults in the Yarm Road area which occurred on Saturday 7 September and the early hours of Sunday 8 September.
