A machete and a Kinder egg containing class A drugs have been removed from the streets of Grangetown during proactive patrols in Redcar on the evening of Saturday 8th September.
Officers from the Proactive Team stopped a 19-year-old man and a 15-year-old boy and searched them. The 15-year-old boy was found to have a Kinder egg containing class A drugs and a machete during the search and was arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to supply a class A drug, and possession of a bladed article.
Officers arrested the 19-year-old on suspicion of being concerned in the supply of drugs, and a subsequent search of his home unveiled suspected class A drugs and equipment relating to the supply of drugs.
During their arrest, both the 19-year-old and the 15-year-old were racially abusive towards one of the officers present, and both were further arrested for racially aggravated public order offences. Following questioning in police custody, they were both released on bail pending further enquiries.
During the same evening patrols, the team spotted a van suspected of having no insurance and driving dangerously. When officers attempted to stop the vehicle, the driver made off. The team recovered the vehicle after it was found abandoned on Fabian Road a short time later.
