Police are reminding members of the public to remain vigilant after several incidents of thefts from motor vehicles in the Marton Road area of Middlesbrough.
There have been several reports of breaks to vehicles in recent weeks, and neighbourhood teams are carrying out regular patrols and are linking in with local businesses in the area, along with reminding members of the public to be vigilant.
Officers would advise people not to leave items on show such as loose change, sunglasses and satellite navigation systems, which could be attractive to opportunist thieves. Keeping doors and windows secure can also deter those who want to commit crime.
Cleveland Police would appeal to with information to contact them by calling 101.
Acting Inspector Dan Oldroyd from Middlesbrough Neighbourhood Policing Team, said: “We would continue to urge people to remain vigilant and ensure that car doors and windows are secure, as well as removing valuables, which could all help deter potential thieves.
“Those members of the public who may have information are asked to contact the neighbourhood team by calling 101, or call Crimestoppers anonymously online at www.crimestoppers-uk.org or by calling 0800 555 111.”
