A man who violently assaulted a woman by punching her, kicking her, and strangling her during a sustained attack has been jailed.
Ryan Raynor subjected the victim to a horrific attack in May this year in Middlesbrough and he was arrested by officers who launched an investigation.
The 22-year-old from Thornaby was subsequently charged with attempted Section 18 wounding, threats to kill, intentional strangulation and common assault.
He appeared at Teesside Magistrates’ Court where he pleaded guilty to all four offences.
Raynor appeared at Teesside Crown Court on Monday 2nd September where he was jailed for a total of four and half years.
The courts also imposed an indefinite restraining order preventing him from contacting the victim.
Investigating officer, James Smith from the Domestic Abuse Unit said: “Raynor carried out a vicious and violent attack that day which will no doubt have left a lasting impact on the victim.
“Hopefully the victim can take some comfort in the fact that her attacker now faces time in prison to reflect on what he has done.
“Domestic violence is taken extremely seriously within Cleveland Police and I would urge anyone who wishes to report something to us to call 101 or contact Crimestoppers anonymously. We have specially trained officers who will support you throughout.”
