Response officers from Stockton on proactive patrols in and around Thornaby on Friday (4th April) stopped this vehicle on Mandale Road because the load it was carrying was not being transported securely.
A large amount of loose metal and other waste was in the flatbed area but none of it was safely contained, and some was balanced precariously on the vehicle.
Officers stopped the vehicle before it could continue its journey and potentially shed the load onto the carriageway, putting other motorists at risk – as well as police and highways officers who are frequently called to deal with debris on our roads.
The driver was suitably reported for the offence and the load was secured appropriately prior to the officers leaving.
We will continue to take action on insecure loads and will do all we can to keep our roads safe for all users!
