As of Tuesday this week, this house on Brotton High Street is subject to a three-month closure order.
Supported by Redcar & Cleveland Borough Council’s ASB Team, Redcar & East Cleveland Neighbourhood Officers applied for the order after police received numerous calls from local people about persistent nuisance and ASB at and around the property.
Complaints included noise nuisance, fighting, damage to the house doors and windows, verbal abuse, threats and acts of violence and people associated with the address being under the influence of drink or drugs whilst in the street.
Redcar & East Cleveland Neighbourhoods Inspector Neil Deluce said: “There was a long list of ASB incidents at and near this address, making life a misery for the law-abiding majority who just want to live their lives in peace.
“Cleveland Police will always take positive action where communities are impacted so badly. This order should now mean a more peaceful summer for other residents on and around Brotton High Street.”
And he warned: “With support from our local authority and housing partners, we’ll continue to take robust action against perpetrators and we will not hesitate to seek further closure orders wherever and whenever possible.”
Cllr Adam Brook, Cabinet Member for Neighbourhoods, said: “People should not have to put up with this kind of behaviour at home or as they go about their business in their own streets and community.
"I’d like to thank the police and our own anti-social behaviour officers who are on the frontline every day protecting the public from anti-social activity which can make lives a misery.
"Well done to the police and everyone involved in securing this successful court order and I hope the people of this area of Brotton will now finally get some peace.”
