An operation aimed at commercial vehicles took place in Cleveland, with a total of 194 road related offences found.
The two-week national campaign took place between 27th January and 9th February.
293 vehicles were stopped in total and 81 of these were carrying dangerous goods.
Of the offences found, these included 21 with no insurance, five drivers without a licence, 15 motorists driving without due care and attention, nine disqualified drivers, eight without seatbelts and 26 drivers under the influence of either alcohol or drugs.
There were 26 vehicles found with insecure loads and also faults found with eight vehicle brakes.
Matrix lead on road safety, Inspector Dave Ridgway, said: “The road network in Cleveland has main arterial routes for a significant volume of commercial vehicles including those carrying dangerous goods and chemicals. Some of these are travelling up and down the country as well as internationally. With so many motorists on our roads, it is our duty to help keep people safe and participate in any national initiatives which can assist in reducing the number of those killed or seriously injured in collisions on our roads.”
