The driver of this tractor which was carrying a heavy trailer load has been reported for summons after officers suspected him of using his mobile phone at the wheel on the A19.
Officers on proactive patrols spotted the tractor on the A19 southbound shortly after 9am on Saturday 8th February, and stopped the driver who was believed to be using a mobile phone at the wheel.
The officers spoke with the driver about the dangers of using a mobile phone at the wheel in any vehicle, but particularly whilst driving a vehicle of this size. He has now been reported for summons.
Every year, hundreds of people are killed or injured in road traffic collisions where a driver using a mobile phone was considered to be a contributory factor.
Along with speeding, not wearing a seatbelt and driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs; distraction (including using a mobile phone at the wheel) is one of the four main contributing factors in fatal collisions around the UK. Please don't use a mobile phone at the wheel!
