Two men have been sentenced to more than four years in prison after a racially motivated arson attack in Middlesbrough.
In the early hours of Saturday 3rd August 2024, 37-year-old Craig Bradley from Fonteyn Court in Middlesbrough and 35-year-old James Frost, of no fixed abode, launched an attack on a family home on Fonteyn Court, Hemlington, after they made racial slurs and threats to the family living there.
Two vehicles were set alight at the property, and Frost also smashed up one of the cars with a metal pole.
The following morning, officers were also attacked with stones at the property and the two men were arrested.
Both men were sentenced to 4.5 years in prison at Teesside Crown Court on Wednesday 26th February.
Detective Inspector Lee Bythway, from Middlesbrough CID, said: “This was a terrifying attack on a family in their own home, fuelled by racial hatred from two men who have now rightly been put behind bars.
“Bradley and Frost intimidated a family and caused them to fear continuing to live in their own home. They now have the time to reflect on their actions in prison and face the consequences of their unacceptable behaviour.”
