Two men, aged 27 and 43, have been arrested on suspicion of murder while another man, aged 38, and a 19-year-old woman have been detained on suspicion of assisting an offender.
All four individuals are currently in police custody for questioning.
The arrests come as detectives from Cleveland Police’s Homicide and Major Enquiry Team (HMET) continue to conduct numerous enquiries following the death of a 28-year-old man. His family are being supported by specialist family liaison officers.
Since the report of a stabbing was made to police shortly after midnight on Friday 28 February, detectives have been working round the clock to obtain information and review CCTV to establish the circumstances surrounding the death and apprehend those suspected of being responsible.
As the investigation is ongoing, police continue to appeal to members of the public to come forward if they have information, doorbell, dash cam or mobile phone footage.
Senior Investigating Officer Matt Hollingsworth, of Cleveland Police’s HMET, said: “A lot of work has taken place behind the scenes in a bid to identify and then arrest those we believe to be involved in the murder.
“This will continue, and I would encourage anyone who has information and not yet spoken to police to get in touch. This also applies to anyone who has any footage that could assist with our enquiries.
“I want to reassure the community that officers will continue to be visible in and around the Fonteyn Court area of Hemlington and there will be numerous arrest attempts ongoing as the investigation progresses.”
Anyone who has information, mobile, dash cam or doorbell footage is asked to call Cleveland Police on 101 quoting reference number 034989. Or you can provide information via a website set up for the investigation.
Information can also be provided anonymously by calling Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 or visiting their website.
